Testimonials
“I was unemployed, having just completed a master's degree in Space Engineering, and had been looking for a job for about a month without much success. I was trying to reenter the aerospace industry after a seven year absence and searched online for a career counselor to help. During the search I came across Jake and reached out.
We discussed my background and interests and created a strategy for applications and creating relationships in industry, including resume writing and informational interview plans. When I was offered interviews we discussed the approach to the interview process, and Jake provided a list of sample questions and strategies to help me prepare.
Jake helped me rewrite my resume and I got my first interview with the resume we wrote together for the first job I applied for with it. Jake's help with interview preparation was also invaluable. I had a set of complete stories about my experiences ready to go which helped me easily address nearly every question the interviewers asked.
{After ~ 2 months of working with Jake,] I am planning to accept an offer for a Senior Systems Engineer position working on satellite communication systems.”
“I first reached out to Jake after graduating and spending 3 months applying to jobs with no luck. We began by speaking about what types of positions I was interested in and then assessing my experience to see what roles might be a best fit.
We completely reworked my resume to better highlight my education and applicable experience. Jake then sent me multiple job applications that he thought I should apply to.
Once I secured some interviews, he helped me practice my answers and go over any questions I had about the processes. I would say that Jake helped me the most in being able to pull the important parts out of my stories and experiences that were directly applicable to the job.
After working with Jake for just under 2 months, I was offered a position at one of my dream companies within aerospace! Jake gave me confidence in my abilities and was there for me every step of the way.
“I started working with Jake after almost 8 months of applying and not getting any responses on my applications. Jake totally revamped my resume and helped me highlight the most important parts. We also talked a lot about the psychology behind the whole process and that really opened my eyes and helped me focus during resume edits and interview practice.
After we started submitting applications again I got [a few] interviews within the next 1-2 months and Jake helped me prep for those. He was even available on short notice for quick sessions. He was able to explain the different types of jobs and what skills to highlight for each one.
After a few rounds of interviews I found my dream job working as a systems engineer for a prominent commercial space company. I can’t thank Jake enough for all the time and work he put in to help me.
“Jake and I worked on improving my resume to better encapsulate my relevant experience and showcase my engineering skills. My previous resume was too focused on my tutoring experience. Once I became confident with my resume and my ability to tailor it to match the job requirements, we moved on to drafting and polishing cover letters. Finally, once I began getting interviews, we rehearsed interview questions. He also helped me find positions that matched my background and he encouraged me through the whole process.
After working with Jake for ~5 months, I've become more confident in tailoring my resume and selling myself in interviews. I also accepted a position with Sierra Space!”
“I reached out to Jake as a soon to be graduate because I did not know anyone in the aerospace industry and felt unprepared with my resume, for the job search in general, and with interviewing.
Jake helped me rewrite my resume, find jobs to apply for that matched my interests and background, and prepare for interviews. After working with Jake, I feel much more confident in my resume building and interviewing abilities.
Jake's help was an integral part of me finding a job and I ended up receiving an offer from Collin's Aerospace a few months after beginning the application process! I couldn't be more excited for the job and can't thank Jake enough!
“I reached out to Jake because I was not getting a lot of attention on my resume. I was a few months from graduation with no job lined up. Jake and I worked on my resume a lot; we tailored it to match the jobs and added more relevant details to [describe] my experiences differently. In addition, his knowledge of interviewing [and all our practice sessions] really upped my game during the interview process.
We worked for a couple months during my senior year and continued during my internship over the summer. I would rate Jake's services a 10/10. Jake went above and beyond to really help me find the job that fit the best for me. After working with Jake, I got my dream job at Blue Origin, I cannot recommend Jake enough.”
“I reached out to Jake for help in the job application process. When I started I was just finishing up grad school and was unemployed. Jake helped revise my resume in order to better present my experiences to potential employers. He also walked me through the interview process and was responsive with general career advice up until I got a job offer.
His resume advice is invaluable. I was getting no hits on my job applications before his revision and was getting an interview once or twice a week afterwards.
I ended up with two job offers after about two months of work with Jake; I accepted an offer from Lockheed Martin.”
“I had recently completed a master’s degree in aerospace engineering and I was struggling to get past the screening interviews. Jake put me in a very disciplined approach. He taught me how to tailor my resume and applications; and helped me focus on the companies and jobs that would fit me best. I especially appreciated the one-on-one coaching prior to each interview. I learned a great deal about what I should and should not put in it and how to make it stand out among other applicants. [His advice] corrected erroneous advice I had been given, which didn’t fit this industry.
Very soon after working with Jake, I started getting many more screenings and second interviews for positions that I know I would not have been considered for without his coaching. We worked together for about two and a half months, and I landed my perfect first job [at Boeing]. In fact, I was actually hired for a higher-level position than what I had applied for. Jake had predicted that I would have a job within 3 months!
Jake knows the industry and was able to put me in the right frame of mind and provide the market and industry context I didn’t yet have. I rate Jake’s services a 10 out of 10. When you have invested a lot on your education, it is equally worth the investment in coaching like his [programs].”
“I was a mechanical engineer in the Oil & Gas industry for 8 years, and finally decided that it was time to pursue my passion of being an engineer in the space industry. I reached out to [Jake] and it only took a few minutes of chatting with him to realize he was the right person to help me make the switch. [We] first met [so Jake could] understand who I am, what skills I have, and what I want out of a role. Then, with his knowledge and background of the aerospace industry, helped me find roles at different companies that fit my skillset and desires. He also helped a great bit when it came to preparing for interviews. He helped research the different companies and gave me tips on what key points to focus on during the interview.
The most valuable help was around resume tailoring. Before Jake's help, I would get overwhelmed just trying to create a basic resume. I would procrastinate like crazy because I am just reluctant to write something up, and would get overwhelmed about what to include. Jake gave me a very structured approach, which got rid of the friction, and enabled me to knock one thing out at a time, coaching me through every step.
After ~3 months (with 1 month during holidays) I accepted a job at MOOG New Space in a role that feels like it was meant just for me.”
“I contacted Jake during a transitional period of my aviation career. I was looking to transition from a flying career to an aviation business career. In addition, I was looking for someone with relationships and knowledge of the aviation industry who could direct me in my search for a new career.
Jake helped me in a number of ways. Initially, we investigated my background, skills, and passions in order to narrow down the job search and find specific job titles and companies that would be of interest. Secondly, Jake created value by sending me interesting job choices and creating unique resumes for those positions.
Lastly, we worked on interview prep and negotiation of salary. Jake was invaluable during the process and I reached out to him on numerous occasions for small questions and was always answered promptly.
In a month and a half I was able to narrow the field and find an exciting job in the aviation industry that kept me close to home. I was also able to negotiate for a higher salary with Jake's help! I have learned a lot about the interview and hiring process from Jake. I also hope to earn an engineering degree as I work for this company.
I would absolutely recommend Jake’s help to my friends.”
“Jake and I worked on adding depth to my resume, really taking a deeper dive into each topic. When I first started I felt like I had a strong resume, it just wasn’t getting the attention that I expected.
Jake was able to look at my experiences and help translate them to a larger audience. Since a lot of technical skills are unknown to the typical first line of resume reviewers, Jake was able to help me communicate them. He is in the industry and has a great idea of what the industry is looking for. He has also shared some valuable working skills with me since I [started working], which has been getting me kudos from management.
After working with Jake I noticed a significant increase in activity with my applications, before almost all of my applications were either getting no attention or none at all. It seemed as soon as I was able to submit a resume that Jake [had] helped me with, I was getting passed the ATS scans and on to interviews. With his guidance and hard work I landed a job as a Hardware Engineer at Lockheed Martin Space Systems!“
“Jake worked with me when I had hit a dead end during the COVID pandemic, and it's thanks to him that I landed my dream job.
Jake was immensely helpful in honing my interviewing skills. He held customized practice interviews with me every time I had a real one scheduled, and tailored them to what I might expect. He would go through the job description with me and break everything down point by point. Jake helped me prepare for each and every interview, and his coaching was absolutely vital to my success. He is proactive, responding to me in a timely manner and even reaching out to me regularly if I haven't given any status updates for a while.
Jake helped me get a job as a Guidance, Navigation, and Control engineer [at Axiom Space]. If anyone else is looking for aerospace career coaching, I would strongly recommend Jake. He is helpful, patient, and reliable. He stayed with me for as long as I needed, and supported me through the entire process of starting my career. I wouldn't be where I am today without his help.”
“I reached out to Jake because I wanted to give myself the best chance possible at being selected for a competitive aerospace internship. At the time, I was a Senior in college (Mechanical Engineering) with plans to continue to a Masters in Engineering. Jake and I worked together on my resume and then conducted some mock interviews [after I quickly got some callbacks]. He also helped a lot with keeping me on track for getting applications out. [After ~2 months working with Jake] I received an offer for an internship at one of my top choice companies, [Relativity Space].
“Jake and I worked a lot on how to cater each individual resume for specific job postings as well as teaching me industry terminology to be able to discuss a wider range of topics.
I came to Jake after not getting any interviews for the 50+ jobs I had previously applied for. Jake and I worked about once a week to figure out where I could improve upon in my resume, from a grammar and vocabulary standpoint, all the way to understanding how my previous jobs can be helpful in new positions.
I had only been working in the aerospace industry for about a year and half and I did not know a lot of the industry terminology, which was frightening when applying for jobs. Jake was able to walk through many job postings and translate all the industry terms into something I could understand so I could then determine if I was interested in the job.
After less than 2 months working with Jake, I ended up accepting a [Space Systems Test Engineering] position at SNC.
I would highly recommend Jake to colleagues and friends inside and outside the aerospace community. He can provide great knowledge on resume building as well as industry specific tips and tricks.”
“Jake and I started on resume building and tips to strengthen it and direct attention where it was most vital. Jake helped me the most with focusing on relevant experience and how to highlight those in my resume. Also, he showed me how to effectively cater resumes to specific jobs.
He put me in touch with other engineers to have informational interviews, which was very helpful and gave me a better idea of what exactly I might do within the field of engineering.
After working with Jake…I decided to go back to school for a M.S., but plan on working with Jake in the future when it is time to re-enter the workforce.
Jake is well-versed with helping someone project the best possible version of themselves to potential employers. I would recommend Jake to help my friends. I think Jake could help many people with their job [searching] needs.”
